Picnic Pasta

Here’s a tiny post featuring this short video of Nina Groppo, Gloucester, MA, serving pasta.

Nina had hosted about thirty children and parents that morning to make fresh pasta for the St. Joseph’s Day feast, March 19th.  She took about twenty pounds of that pasta, along with some fresh tomato sauce - processed last summer - and made lunch for everyone.

“This,” Nina, says, ”is the way we used to served pasta at picnics.” Other guests said they remember their mothers serving it this way to their large families - pour the steaming pasta out on a table top, and toss it right there.  Everyone just digs their forks into the pile!

In the video, some of the youngest guests weren’t keen on that idea, and demanded a bowl!  Watch the video; it’s kind of wonderful.
